چکیده
In this work, antifriction and antiwear capabilities of hexagonal boron nitride nanoparticles (h-BN) or graphene nanoplatelets (GnP) as additives a polyalphaolefin neat oil (PAO 40) were studied at pure sliding conditions. For purpose, eight PAO 40 nanodispersions prepared: four with h-BN others based on GnP. The mass concentrations these dispersions are 0.25, 0.50, 0.75 1.00 wt% 0.05, 0.10. 0.25 0.50 GnP, having all them good stability against sedimentation (at least 96 h). Tribological assays carried prepared nanolubricants well base 20 N load. All GnP showed lower friction coefficients in comparison to the non-additivated oil, maximum decrease 21% for nanodispersion. Regarding produced wear, disks lubricated wear than those using 40. greatest reduction track width (22%) was also achieved nanolubricant. Moreover, through confocal Raman microscopy roughness analyses worn it can be concluded that reductions due surface repairing tribofilm formation mechanisms. • best behavior Maximum 22% found lubricant. 20% 13%. Surface mechanisms occur nanoadditives.

We demonstrate that the one-dimensional (1D) transport channels that appear in the gap when graphene nanoroads are embedded in boron nitride (BN) sheets are more robust when they are inserted at AB/BA grain boundaries. Our conclusions are based on ab initio electronic structure calculations for a variety of different crystal orientations and bonding arrangements at the BN/C interfaces. This pro...
متن کاملSelf-dispersed crumpled graphene balls in oil for friction and wear reduction.
Ultrafine particles are often used as lubricant additives because they are capable of entering tribological contacts to reduce friction and protect surfaces from wear. They tend to be more stable than molecular additives under high thermal and mechanical stresses during rubbing. It is highly desirable for these particles to remain well dispersed in oil without relying on molecular ligands. Borr...
متن کاملLayered Double Hydroxide Nanoplatelets with Excellent Tribological Properties under High Contact Pressure as Water-Based Lubricant Additives.
High efficient and sustainable utilization of water-based lubricant is essential for saving energy. In this paper, a kind of layered double hydroxide (LDH) nanoplatelets is synthesized and well dispersed in water due to the surface modification with oleylamine. The excellent tribological properties of the oleylamine-modified Ni-Al LDH (NiAl-LDH/OAm) nanoplatelets as water-based lubricant additi...
